Why Am I Always Sore? The Missing Piece Most People Never Hear About

Why Am I Always Sore? The Missing Piece Most People Never Hear About

"Mark… can I ask you something?"

"Of course."

"Why am I always sore? I don't think I'm doing anything different than I did ten years ago."

I smiled because I'd already heard that question twice that week.

In fact, it's one of the most common conversations I have in my clinic.

Sometimes it's a golfer who's still sore on Tuesday after playing on Saturday.

Sometimes it's someone whose hands ache every morning before they've even poured their first cup of coffee.

Sometimes it's a runner, a gardener, or someone whose knees just don't seem to recover anymore.

Almost everyone finishes with the same question.

"Is this just getting older?"

My answer?

Not necessarily.

Yes, our bodies change over time, but feeling stiff every morning or sore for days after being active shouldn't automatically be accepted as normal.

Your body is designed to recover.

Sometimes it just needs a little help.

So...What Is Inflammation?

Most people think inflammation is the enemy.

It isn't.

Inflammation is actually your body's repair crew.

When you work in the yard, play a round of golf, go for a long walk or recover from an injury, your body sends inflammation to begin repairing the damage.

That's exactly what it's supposed to do.

The problem isn't starting inflammation.

The problem is finishing the job.

What Happens When Recovery Gets Stuck?

This is where things get interesting.

Sometimes the repair crew never really leaves.

Instead of returning to normal, your body can stay in a cycle of lingering inflammation.

That's when people start saying things like:

"I'm still sore."

"My hands ache every morning."

"My knees never feel 100%."

"I just don't bounce back anymore."

There are lots of reasons this can happen.

Poor sleep.

High stress.

Not eating enough protein.

Too much processed food.

Not enough movement.

Or sometimes simply asking your body to do more than it's recovered from.

That's why I always remind people:

Recovery is bigger than one supplement.

The Supplement That Changed My Thinking

Over the years I've recommended fish oil, curcumin, magnesium and other natural approaches to help manage inflammation.

I still do.

They're excellent tools.

But every once in a while you come across a product that genuinely changes the way you think about a problem.

For me, that was SPM Active.

The reason is surprisingly simple.

Most inflammation supplements are designed to support the inflammatory response.

SPM Active supports your body's natural ability to resolve inflammation once it has done its job.

It's a different way of thinking about recovery.

And after seeing how it has helped many of my patients, it has become one of my favourite tools for people dealing with lingering inflammation and slower recovery.

A Conversation I'll Never Forget

Not long ago, a gentleman came into my clinic frustrated.

He loved golfing, but every round came with a price.

If he played on Saturday, he was still stiff and sore on Tuesday.

He figured it was just part of getting older.

As we talked, it became clear that recovery not activity was the problem.

We worked on the basics first.

More protein.

Better sleep.

A few simple nutrition changes.

Then we added SPM Active to support his recovery.

A few weeks later he came back smiling.

He hadn't stopped golfing.

He'd simply stopped dreading how he'd feel afterward.

That's why I get excited about recovery.

Not because people stop doing the things they love.

Because they get back to doing them.

Recovery Is About More Than One Product

One thing I never want people to believe is that there's a magic supplement.

There isn't.

The people who recover the best usually work on several pieces at the same time.

They eat enough protein.

They improve their sleep.

They manage stress.

They support their gut health.

They keep moving.

And when appropriate, they add targeted supplements like SPM Active to support their recovery.

That's the approach we take every day in my clinic.

It's not about masking pain.

It's about helping your body recover the way it was designed to.

My Advice

If you've been dealing with chronic inflammation, arthritis, joint pain, morning stiffness or slower recovery, don't assume it's simply something you have to live with.

There are often practical steps you can take to help your body heal and recover more effectively.

Sometimes that's improving nutrition.

Sometimes it's reducing stress.

Sometimes it's working on gut health.

Sometimes it's improving sleep.

And sometimes it's choosing a supplement that supports recovery in a different way than you've tried before.
