Build a Great Smoothie

Build a Powerful Smoothie

Smoothie’s are one of my personal favorite ways to JAM  nutrients into your body.  They are easy, convenient and they are able to pack a huge punch of nutrients into your day.

Do you use smoothies?

I personally do, and I wanted to clear up a few things first.  I don’t view smoothies just as protein shakes, yes is protein powder in my smoothies, but the image most people have in their heads is that protein shakes are used for people who want to build muscle.  That is certainly true, but I view smoothie’s as so much more than that.

Smoothie’s can help you

  • Increase your Nutrients

  • Help you achieve your daily protein levels.

  • Can fuel your good GUT bugs.  (Having gut issues?  Make sure you read this article)

  • Help you get your servings of Fruits and Vegetables per day.

  • Are family friendly.

  • Can act as meal replacements

So I view smoothie’s an effective way to help you achieve your nutrition goals.

Watch this video for more on this topic.

Here is what I look for in a smoothie:

A High Quality Protein Powder Base.

I go between 2 different types.  One is a plant based option called Perfect Protein  the second is a Beef Derived Protein called Pure Paleo Protein

Personally I like chocolate, but many people prefer Vanilla as they usually mix a whole bunch of other things in their smoothie.

Super Foods

Foods that pack a HUGE punch of nutrition is my second focus.  In my smoothie I use:

Healthy Fats

I love almond butter, pumpkin seed butter, cashew butter, coconut oil, avocado. In my recipe below I will show you how I use these.

Fruits and Vegetables

I use the following fruits:

  • Blueberries ( frozen)

  • Pomegranate seeds ( frozen)

  • Dark Cherries ( frozen)

  • Banana or Plantain

Vegetables I like:

  • Spinach

  • Beet cubes or beet juice

  • Broccoli Sprouts

So, as you can see my smoothie is JAM packed.
